Jewelian Johnson

Vice President

Pronouns: he/him

Jewelian Johnson was born in Vallejo, CA as the youngest of nine siblings. He grew up in a system-impacted home that experienced various trials. Still, his hardworking mother instilled a value for academia at a young age as a means for opportunity. Throughout the years, political consciousness was built in understanding the complexity of positioning for Black folx across the globe and the crucial need for revolutionary work to build a new norm that doesn’t include content with global exploitation, neocolonialism, state-induced violence, capitalistic slavery, and so on. A society that advances social movements in favor of the people. Those ideas start with including the voice of the future.

Currently, Jewelian is attending the University of the Pacific on the Pre-Law track to major in Philosophy and Political Science. Previously, he attended San Joaquin Delta College serving two years in student governance. Aside from this, Jewelian has had experience under the Chancellor’s Office as well as the Community College Foundation pushing for solutions with regard to Basic Needs and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Subsequently, he interned for former Mayor Michael Tubbs helping with COVID relief and researching policy in areas like criminal justice. Other work entails social justice organizations like ACLU, Critical Resistance, and Public Health Advocates.

As the Vice President, he is focused on expanding Stockton Stands across the globe to equip youth with tools to materialize the world we’ve been dreaming of. A leader in supporting revolutionary work across the globe to sustain self-determination for future generations of Black, Indigenous, and Brown youth. The goal is to provide new means of agency to communities like South Stockton where the voice has been stolen through means of state incapacitation.

This work has blessed him with opportunities to presently sit on the local and state commissions, policy committees, governance programming, and funding oversight for innovative practices. All of which allows him to continue breaking doors open and push for active roles for youth in creating radical change.
