Why Stockton Stands?

In solidarity with Minneapolis, Tehreem Khan and a colleague founded Stockton Stands with Minneapolis in response to the unjust murder of George Floyd in May 2020. After planning protests and collaborating with various organizers, founder Khan saw the need for youth leaders in Stockton.

Our purpose has evolved to become an organization designed to incubate and support youth leaders to finding solutions in educational reform, criminal and racial justice, the houseless population, and more. We believe that the youth of Stockton have the power to make the change that our elected officials haven't. We seek out solutions to these areas through legislation, advocacy, community-led initiatives, and more.

Through our efforts and many others, we aim to better the quality of life for the citizens of Stockton, especially its marginalized communities. We envision a future where all have equal opportunity and access to affordable housing, free education, and racial & social justice for all regardless of identity.
